The history behind our Pie Tin Pallets
In the early 1980s, Carlyle Engineering worked closely with renowned country baker and inventor Frank Seaton (OAM) to bring his pioneering ideas to life. Frank approached Carlyle with his concept for a palletised self-cutting pie tin system, and Carlyle engineered and manufactured the first pie tin pallets featuring tins mounted on metal strips. This innovation became a cornerstone of what later evolved into the Seton System, enabling bakeries to dramatically streamline pie production.
The collaboration between Carlyle and Frank not only helped commercialise one of the most influential advances in Australian pie-making but also played a part in the legacy that earned Frank a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the baking industry.
